Prevent Hostilities

On a day Akhnas bin Syarik came to the Prophet Muhammad. In front of the Prophet, declared Akhnas faith and accept Islam. But, in the middle of the road, after meeting the Prophet's, Akhnas just make chaos, destroying crops, livestock, and assets of Muslims. Then, revealed this verse:''Of the people there are people saying about the life of this world pleases you, and be witnesses to Allah it (the truth) in his heart, but he is yet (the enemy) the hardest.''(Al - Baqarah: 204).

Hostility as did Akhnas a major crime. According to Imam Ghazali, it is the mother of hostilities and the base of all evil. Malice or hostility rather than ordinary crime, but a big crime that causes the curse. The Prophet said,''The most wrath of Allah is a person who is always beating the drums of hostilities.''(Bukhari).

Crime due to the hostility that is generally done in three forms.
First, slander and falsehood (al-takdzib). People who are involved tend to spread slander hostility and blowing horns lies to the enemy. Because it is perceived as the enemy, the prophets and messengers of Allah are always maligned and deny. In fact, no one prophet, but his people said,''We deny the doctrine which ye have been sent to deliver it.''(Saba ': 34).

Second, physical abuse (al-Adza). This kind of torture is often the tyrant rulers against political opponents. Because it is perceived as the enemy, they were then arrested, abducted and tortured. In Islamic history, the people who believe in the Prophet was also tortured and persecuted, as inhuman torture that happened to friends of Bilal al-Habsyi and families' Ammar ibn Yasir.

Third, the killing (al-qatl). Hostility often resulted in murder and bloodshed. In ancient times, many prophets were killed, some of them sawed off. Ashab al-Kahf are pursued to be killed. While Ashab al Ukhdud burned alive. Infidel Quraysh had also agreed to kill the Prophet Muhammad. But it pleased Almighty Allah protect him, so he was saved from each of attempted murder.

All of these crimes is because of hostility. Hostility, as such, must be prevented and ended. Way, we must build and strengthen our sense of brotherhood. The base equation is true brotherhood. The stronger the equation, the more stronger sense of brotherhood. So, in order to build brotherhood, we must prioritize the aspects of equality, and instead highlight the aspects of difference.

In addition, we must build a good prejudice (husn al-dzan) and eliminate prejudice (su'u al-dzan). That way, mutual suspicion that become the seeds of hostility can be resisted and eliminated. Then, finally, we must be prepared to face all the facts, thick and thin, win or lose, gracefully, without a sense of hostility and bloodshed.
